Compounding Procedure

  1. Levigate the active ingredients in powder form using a wetting agent such as Ethoxy Diglycol. Essential oils or terpenes can be used as levigating agent as well.
  2. Add Organic phase and mix until uniformly dispersed or dissolved.
  3. Add Hydrophilic phase by geometrical method to the mix of A and B. Mix well until a homogenous gel is formed.

Compounding Tips

  • Store Organic phase at room temperature, and Hydrophilic phase in the refrigerator. NOTE: Hydrophilic is made of a thermoreversible polymer. It is solid at room temperature, and liquefies at refrigerated temperature.
  • Warm Hydrophilic phase to about 10°C prior to compounding to improve the rate of the gelling process.
  • Complete dispersion or dissolution of isolate/distillate in Organic phase is important before incorporating Hydrophilic in order to obtain best results.
